All Rights Reserved. 從小，湛藍無比的海讓我癡迷。旅居歐美20年間都在離海洋很遠的內陸地區求學精進琴藝，心中那片環繞島嶼的大海，總在重要的時刻波光閃爍，像一顆發亮的海珍珠隨浪推進在我的心底盪漾，鼓勵我，也安慰我。於是，彈奏《快樂島》帶給我一種神秘又奇妙的心流體驗，彷彿能與德布西 (C. Debussy) 曾寫道的「記憶中的海比現實中的更讓我有感覺 」，進行跨時空共感和對話。 《快樂島》是德布西在1904年以羅浮宮收藏法國畫家華都 (J. A. While living and studying the piano at Universities in Europe and the United States for 20 years, I have been staying in inland areas far from the ocean. At important moments of those years, that childhood sea surrounding the island would always shine, just like a pearl sparkling deep inside my heart, not only to encourage, but also to comfort me. Therefore, playing "L’isle Joyeuse" gives me a mysteriously wonderful flow experience, as if I could resonate with Claude Debussy’s thought on “preferring the seascapes available in painting and literature,” or even in memories, to the physical sea, and together we would carry out musical dialogues across time and space. "L’isle Joyeuse" was composed by Debussy in 1904 based on the renowned painting " L’embarquement pour Cythère" by the French painter J. A. Watteau. It is certainly the most famous piano work by Debussy, filled with brilliant skills, the most outgoing personality and the richest sound. According to the ancient Greek myth, Aphrodite — the god of love, has made the island of Cythère her abode, where later became the island of pilgrimage for young people who would seek for love. Under this poetic and picturesque connotation, Debussy swayed the extreme sound color changes, used the casual but precise gorgeous jumps depicting the play between waves and the island, and fantasies full of laughter, love and joy as well. That day, you took me to the seaside．Ce jour-là tu m'as emmené voir la mer．Looking at the "live" surf of the sea in front of me, I realized that after returning to my island Taiwan, I was buried in the tasks between the piano and life, not only having forgotten that I am living on an island surrounded by the sea, but also deserted long ago the sea in my memory. “Why?” There was a moment of silence． ． ． Not before long, the music of "L’isle Joyeuse" came to mind, dancing perfectly with the real waves. I knew then that this was what I would strive for. I told myself that life does not need to be perfect, but it needs to regress to the true intention of love, in order to embrace one’s true self and others, and to treat each other with kindness in co-existence. I thank God for planting this vision in me. I will praise Him with the piano, perform the music that touches and heals people's hearts, and every place on this island I visit will be my stage. Oh, Chocolate! Bitter, Sweet, Charming, all of my favorite things. My life is like a box of chocolates - it’s both bitter and sweet, passionate and colorful. Life is difficult, but you can always feel the sweetness. The elements of my creations are lines, not frames. Personally, I think frames, or boxes are what limits an artist to create. When I create art, I think of four art languages: lines, flow, light and joy. Someone once told me, “your artwork can help heal. I am unable to feel any sort of sadness.” I never draw when I am sorrowful, because I think when one is in such a mood, they should be alone and let their tears flow. Therefore, when I am working, I am always in a bright mood. My artwork helps heal me, and clears my spirit; I feel released and unrestrained. When I begin painting my canvas, I feel as if it is dancing tango with me and singing to me. Like a piece filled with symphonic music, so joyous and touching. My art is not anything secretive like abstract art, but simple and sweet, just like chocolates.
